City of Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department issued the following announcement on March 7.

As we head into the warmer months, many of us look forward to spending time outdoors in our parks and trails.

While parks are great places to enjoy nature and relax, it’s important to remember a few safety tips when visiting these spaces. 

1. Be aware of your surroundings. Be mindful of people and activities around you. The use of headphones is discouraged. 
2. Visit a park with a friend or family member. 
3. Keep valuables out of site. 
4. If you see something that doesn’t feel right, please notify the park management or call 911. 

By taking these precautions, you can enjoy the parks while staying safe.
