Members of the Raleigh City Council for the 2024-2026 term took their oaths of office on December 2 at the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts. The public ceremony drew several hundred attendees.

The newly sworn-in council members include Janet Cowell as Mayor, Stormie Denise Forte and Jonathan Lambert-Melton as At-Large City Council members, Mitchell Silver representing District A, Megan Patton for District B, Corey Branch in District C, Jane Harrison in District D, and Christina Jones serving District E.

The event commenced with a Presentation of Colors by the City of Raleigh Joint Color Guard. This was followed by a drum presentation and land acknowledgment from the Triangle Native American Society. Judge Paul Ridgeway administered the oaths of office, while Lisa Yebuah from Southeast Raleigh Table gave the invocation. Attendees enjoyed music performed by members of The North Carolina Symphony after the formal proceedings.

The first regular meeting of this new City Council is scheduled for December 3 at 1 p.m. It will be available to watch via live stream on both the City's website and YouTube channel.
