Three hospitals under the UNC Health system have been recognized in Newsweek's "World’s Best Hospitals 2025" list. The facilities include UNC Health Rex in Raleigh, UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, and UNC Health Johnston in Smithfield.

Newsweek's annual ranking evaluates over 2,400 hospitals across 30 countries. Thirteen hospitals from North Carolina made the list this year. The full rankings were released Tuesday morning and are accessible at www.newsweek.com/rankings/worlds-best-hospitals-2025.

"UNC Health is proud to have three of our hospitals recognized for the outstanding care they provide," stated Jeff Lindsay, President of UNC Health Hospitals and Chief Operating Officer. He credited their success to "the hard work of our teammates and physicians, and their extraordinary dedication to our patients."

The selection process involved recommendations from medical experts, patient survey results, hospital quality metrics, and an optional survey on the use of Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) in hospitals.

UNC Health operates nearly 20 hospitals and over 900 clinics as part of its mission to enhance health care services while supporting the teaching objectives of the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. Over the past five years, UNC Health has delivered more than $800 million in uncompensated charity care.
