The 2026 Toyota Crown offers a mix of features that combine aspects typical of sedans and crossover SUVs, such as a coupe-like roofline and elevated ride height. Toyota presents two hybrid powertrain options, the Toyota Hybrid System (THS) and the Hybrid MAX. The latter is exclusive to the Platinum grade, while both powertrains are available in four grades: XLE, Limited, Nightshade, and Platinum.
"The Toyota Hybrid System pairs two electric motors with a 2.5-liter engine with an EPA-estimated 41 MPG combined rating," states the press release. Alternatively, the Hybrid MAX combines a 2.4-liter turbo hybrid engine with a rear eAxle, delivering 340 HP and 400 lb-ft of torque.
Drive performance is ensured through design choices like a MacPherson strut at the front, multilink rear suspension, swing valve shock absorbers on several trims, and an Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) on the Platinum grade.
Toyota emphasizes a sense of luxury and craftsmanship in the Crown's interior design. Features include an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, leather-trimmed seating, and heated and ventilated front seats. Toyota's latest Audio Multimedia system is integrated, with a 12.3-inch touchscreen included across all grades.
Safety is prioritized with the standard Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite, which includes features such as a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist.
In all grades, the Crown provides a wide array of connectivity and convenience features, like over-the-air updates, voice-activated commands, and dual-zone climate control. The audio system varies from a 6-speaker setup in the XLE to an 11-speaker JBL system in higher trims.
All Crown models are covered under Toyota’s basic new-vehicle warranty and supplemented with extensive coverage on hybrid components. Additionally, ToyotaCare offers maintenance and roadside assistance for a specified period.
