Duke Energy reports that it has restored power to more than 96% of its customers in Ohio and Kentucky following severe weather that began Wednesday evening. As of 7 a.m. Friday, remaining power outages, which were initially over 69,000, have been reduced to approximately 2,400, primarily in eastern Hamilton and Clermont counties.
Clint Carnahan, Duke Energy's general manager of emergency preparedness, stated, "Our crews are working tirelessly, and we’ve made significant progress, but we won’t stop until every last customer who can receive power is back on line. We appreciate our customers' continued patience as we complete the work safely.”
The company is prepared for potential new outages due to possible incoming heavy rain and flooding.
Duke Energy prioritizes repairing large power lines and infrastructure to restore service to the most customers quickly. Updates on outages and estimated restoration times are available on Duke Energy’s website and through its mobile platforms.
