Duke Energy has restored power to over 98% of customers who faced outages due to Wednesday’s severe weather conditions across Indiana. As of Friday morning, the number of storm-related outages has significantly decreased from nearly 97,000 to about 1,000, primarily in the Clark and Floyd counties. Duke Energy's general manager of emergency preparedness, Clint Carnahan, stated, “We’ve made a lot of progress, but we have to finish strong and do it safely. Restoring the last customer to service is as important as the first. We appreciate our customers’ continued patience while we complete the work.”

The company is keeping a close watch on the weather for any new storms and advises customers to stay cautious. “We urge customers to remain vigilant,” Carnahan emphasized.

During the restoration process, Duke Energy focuses first on repairing large power lines and infrastructure to restore power to a large number of customers quickly and safely. Essential services like hospitals and water facilities are prioritized, followed by repairs for neighborhoods and individual homes.

For up-to-date outage information and estimated restoration times, customers can access Duke Energy’s interactive outage map. Outage reporting and status checks can be done through text, mobile app, online, or by calling the automated system.
