Red Hat, a leader in open source solutions, has announced the winners of the Red Hat APAC Innovation Awards 2024 for Thailand. The awards were given to National ITMX Co., Ltd and Government Savings Bank for their innovative use of Red Hat technologies to meet customer needs.

Marjet Andriesse, Senior Vice President and General Manager of APJC at Red Hat, stated: "Despite the uncertain economic conditions in 2024, we have seen the remarkable milestones achieved by our customers. This year, we want to highlight the innovative strides of these organisations at the Red Hat APAC Innovation Awards 2024 as they leverage advanced technologies to drive business initiatives. Open source remains the key to help organisations uncover what is next and pave the way for success with the right tools and expertise."

The Asia Pacific region continues to grow rapidly despite global challenges. The awards recognize organizations that have used open source technology to transform their operations and address rising infrastructure costs alongside evolving business demands.

According to Red Hat's 2024 Global Tech Trends report, businesses in APAC prioritize building cloud-native applications, improving digital user experience, and accelerating application/service delivery. These priorities align with five award categories: Digital Transformation, Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure, Cloud-Native Development, Automation, and Resilience.

National ITMX Co., Ltd was recognized in the Digital Transformation and Cloud-Native Development category. As Thailand’s National Payment Infrastructure provider, it plays a critical role in advancing payment technology. By using Red Hat's OpenShift Container Platform and other solutions, National ITMX has enhanced PromptPay's scalability and security.

Niwat Kanwaset from National ITMX noted: "To date, we have 80.37 (as of 28 Feb 2025) million Thai users who registered for PromptPay...Red Hat has allowed us to enhance scalability, efficiency, and integration speed in local and cross-border QR payments."

Government Savings Bank (GSB), also awarded in Digital Transformation and Cloud-Native Development category, focuses on reducing inequality through its services. GSB collaborated with Red Hat on a pilot project for lending services using an Online Lending Advisor platform.

Mana Suangthonglang from GSB commented: "Using Red Hat OpenShift...we saw how an application could be developed within three months...Red Hat gave us confidence to service high volumes of customer transactions with increased business agility."

Both organizations exemplify how open source technology can drive innovation across diverse sectors.
